
Dr. Sang-Ryool LEE is President of Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), a government-funded research institute responsible for the development of aerospace technology in the Republic of Korea. He has been President of KARI since March 2021. Prior to his appointment, he was Director of the Lunar Exploration Program Office where he led the development of Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO) from 2019-2021. He has contributed to the research and development of all LEO Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT) and GEO-KOMPSAT series more than 20 years.
Dr. LEE earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Aeronautical Engineering from Seoul National University and holds a doctorate in Automatic Control for Space Application from Paul Sabatier University, France. He was awarded with the Civil Merit Medal for KOMPSAT-1 development and the Order of Science and Technology Merit in 2000 and 2007 respectively.
